End of Summer Shin-dig

Saturday we had our 1st annual End of Summer neighborhood party.  We planned the get-together with the Ottleys across the street, and when all was said and done it was a great success.

Since the Orellana’s house is the only one with shade in the front yard around eatin’ time, we set up barbecues and tables over there.  Everyone brought something to share and the food was delicious. 

After everyone was properly stuffed, Troy led the pack over to our house for some rocket fun.  All the kids made paper rockets and we took turns blasting off with the rocket launcher Grandpa J made for us a few christmases ago. 

Finally, the sun went down and put and end to our rockets, but the fun wasn’t over yet.  Blankets in hand, we headed over to the Ottley’s backyard for a big-screen movie on the projector they had set up in their back yard.

Temple Time-out

The kids are all sick this week, so no church for the Richardsons.  Instead we packed some lunches and headed off to temple square for some peace and quiet in a green space.  Peace and quiet turned out to be in short supply (chaos seems to follow us like a shadow), but the temple was beautiful and a welcome change from the four walls of the family room. Plus, we got to cross off another item on our summer fun list.  Picnic at the temple.  Check.
