On Friday, Aliyah hit the big #1! It was perfect timing with my brother Daniel being here from New York, and so excited to get to know his neice better. On Saturday we had a little family lunch party to celebrate the "Twin Cousin" birthday. For anyone who doesn't know, Aliyah and her cousin Ayden were born on the same day, 13 hours apart. It has been so much fun celebrating all of their special days together! But, we missed celebrating with our friends too, so for anyone who wants to come, we are having a special Birthday Family Night tonight at 9:00 with ice cream sundays!

Aliyah chooses the most random moments to show she has learned something I've been trying to teach her. We've been working on folding our arms for prayer, and when we blessed the food, she folded her arms without any cue from me! I couldn't believe it :)
My Sister-in-law Jessica and I got together and made matching cakes for the birthday kids. Aliyah is my little monkey (she uses her feet almost as much as her hands to grab and play with things) so I thought the theme was fitting :) We had a lot of fun making the frosting monkeys for the cake!
Aliyah liked her monkey so much she kept kissing it between bites of cake. So cute!
Ayden is a much cleaner eater than Aliyah and got to keep his clothes on for the event- But not my baby! She was covered by the time she was done!
What is a birthday without a big smooch from Grandma?
One of the perks of being one of only 3 grandchildren in a family is, of course, PRESENTS! Aliyah got the cutest toys and outfits from her grandmas, great-grandma, and aunts. Happy Birthday beautiful girl!

wow, that was a really fast year! that monkey cake is seriously sooo cute. good job on the cake and, more importantly, on making it through a whole year with a small child... :)
Oh my goodness that cake is fabulous! And Aliyah is even more gorgeous than when we saw her last! Congrats! It's so fun to see pictures!!
